DAY 147

The freedom that this flag represents, cost someone a son, a daughter. There was a price paid. Never forget. Never take it for granted. (Picture by Lisa R.)

Happy Memorial Day! The word “Memorial” is used to preserve the memory of a person or an event. On this day we remember those that have died to protect the freedom that we as a nation have been blessed to enjoy. Our liberties,  came at a price. I pray that we never take our rights and our freedom for granted. God Bless America. God Bless every man and woman that has donned fatigues to protect you and I.

When I came home from the hospital yesterday I decided to do some cleaning (I dislike cleaning, but I like when things are clean…yeah, I don’t get it either). In my cleaning frenzy I stumbled upon some of my old journals (I am an avid journaler). This was my first entry, dated May 10, 2009:

“Lord yesterday I graduated. I have joined the ranks of the “College Graduate” (wow). Thank You for completion. Now my journey begins. Help me to stick to the path You have placed me on. Help me to love-out-loud, and live Your grace and mercy in my life. Please go before me and leave the path lit so that I can follow.”

Four years later this memorial still holds true. My goals are still the same. To follow where He leads and to live His grace.

“This day shall be for you a memorial day, and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD; throughout your generations, as a statute forever” (Exodus 12:14, ESV).

So what am I thankful for today? Memorials, a chance to remember and respect the past.
