Romans 16. “I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil” (Verses 17-19). There is a verse in the Bible where Jesus, says this, “…be wise as serpents and gentle as doves”, Matthew 10:16. What’s the point there are MANY doctrines, and teachers out there that sound godly, that say nice things, but are not biblically correct. Paul here doesn’t tell the church to watch out for people who clearly look devious. No, instead he says be careful of people that use the gospel to deceive you. Don’t just know why you believe, know WHAT you believe. The Bible is tangible. Within your grasp you have the very words of God. READ IT. Know for yourself, that way you’ll be able to discern truth from lies.
