It’s day 290, that’s just craziness. It is crazy to me that I have been able to write everyday for two hundred and ninety days! That is a sign to me of how much I have grown and changed (this is a side thought and not the actually topic of my day, although it oddly ties into my day…wow this is a looooong side note). I have had a really great week, in fact as far as weeks go (upon till today) this was one for the record books. But inevitably bad days must come, and today mine came. Here’s the catch though nothing really bad happened. It was just one of those days when things were frustrating. It was one of those days when five billion things could go right, but one thing goes wrong and that would be the straw that broke the camel’s back. To add insult to injury at about the mid-point of my day, I got one of those scam phone calls from someone trying to con me out of my hard earned money…Poor guy I almost feel sorry for him, today was NOT the day for it. I offered to call the cops for him since he was threatening to send them for me, he abruptly hung up (i have to admit that made me smile a bit). On my drive to Fort Lauderdale, that still small voice that often deals with me, whispered once again, “What are you focusing on?” I realized I have been looking around and not up. I had my eyes fixed on the wrong goal. The journey can be dark, some days you want to drive off the road, find a isolated area and scream. But if we look to the One who knows our beginning from our end, we can find the strength and wisdom necessary to carry on. The lesson: Take your eye of the problem and focus on the solution, He’s not hiding.

“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).

So what am I thankful for today? Learning to adjust my focus.
