1 Timothy 5. “Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God… Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever” (Verses 3-4,8). This hits home for me. My mom was laid off 2 years ago. My brother and I have been providing for her since that time. That is a God story in itself, because the day my mom was let go, was the same day my brother was hired (someday I will relay the story). What I have learned is that God provides. Families are a picture of God’s love for His bride (the church). When they are in need we are to love and take care of those who loved and took care of us. Verse 4, says this pleases God. But it also blesses the doer. I have been blessed, and have have changed in so many ways from this. It has made me more confident in my belief that God will walk us through every trial, and give us the tools needed to succeed. If your family has need, help to meet it. It will bless them, bless you, and please God. Now that’s a win, win, WIN.
