After you accomplish all you need to do…then REST.

This morning, every time I opened my eyes, they closed again (completely of their own will). Thus I ended up sleeping in till noon. To some this may sound awesome, but my body feel uncomfortable if I sleep more than eight hours. Not only did I not wake up till noon, but I lazed around in my PJ’s till 2 pm! I felt L. A. Z. Y. today. Honestly, for the better part of the day i didn’t want to do anything, but go back to sleep. I needed to study, needed to clean, needed to do laundry. However, I WANTED to do none of those and thus for a while, I didn’t. Then my brain yelled at me, literally. I heard myself yell “GET UP, NOW!” Ha! Here’s the funny thing the moment I got up and started doing, I was no longer lazy. I no longer felt tired, in fact I had energized. What I took away is this: Laziness is a state of mind. This morning had I just opened my eyes, and sat up in my bed I wouldn’t have spent the majority of my day in a state of uselessness. This is not to say that lazy days are a bad thing. There is a lot to be said for a day of resting. But resting is for when the work (that is needed) is done. I have accomplished two of the three things on my list, and once I post this I will move on to the third. The irony is this, I would have had more time to rest and relax now, had I just woken up and done what needed to be done at the beginning of my day. Rest is necessary it rejuvenates and revives. But be sure to finish the work that is needed first. It’s what God did.
“On the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all his work” (Genesis 2:2).
So what am I thankful for today? Finishing my work (well, almost 🙂 ).
Thanks. I had a busy day but I might finish what I didn’t do today. I got this craving to scrub my kitchen since I read this. However sometimes you just need rest to recharge.
I have never ever had a craving to scrub my kitchen…lol. I vote for rest. 😉
