Revelation 2:1-7. “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lamp-stand from its place” (Verses 4-5). In the beginning of this chapter, the author talks about all the good things that the church has done. Yet all the good means nothing without love, the first love. In all their good works they had forgotten God, forgotten Christ, forgotten that the goal was not works (alone), but to love God. Because in putting God first everything else falls into place.  If you have forgotten your first love, repent, do the first things. In God’s economy sometimes going back is going forward.
