Genesis 1. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day” (Verses 1-5). I had this thought whilst going back to the beginning. God could have done it all on day one. Why did He separate the days of creation? I pondered it and I came to this conclusion. He did that for us. He made creation understandable, relatable. So that we could tell the story, so that we could understand the story. Creation is a word picture for us. How? God created in six days, but on day seven He rested. Not because He was tired (He’s God, He doesn’t get tired), but we do. So for six days work, create, and build, but on the seventh rest. We need time to recharge. God set the example for us.
