Genesis 4. ” Then the Lord said to Cain, ‘Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? f you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it” (Verses 6-7). “You must have rule over it”. Over what? Sin. Have you ever noticed that when things don’t go our way the first thought is always bad? No one’s first thought is ever, “What? I didn’t get what I wanted. Praise God.” (At least it’s never my first thought). We open ourselves up to sin, when we continue to entertain the thought. Cain did not have to kill Abel, but (and this is speculation) the more he thought about it the angrier he got. The angrier he got the more it became Abel’s fault and not his own. Sounds familiar? Here’s what God says, “Sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you MUST RULE OVER IT”.
