Yesterday my brother and I took a trek in his backyard, otherwise known as “The Frontier”. His home faces a wooded area which at this moment is covered with snow. My brother the explorer that he is decided that we needed to explore “The Frontier”. We put on our snow gear and made the trek outside. It was cold, but beautiful, the air was crisp and cold, it smelled fresh and the white snow looked like diamonds sparkling under the glare of the sun. As we continued to walk the path began to get rough and I found my step going deeper into snow than I would have liked. My brother was ahead of me, he was not facing the same difficulty as me. His trek ahead had left clear and distinct tracks that I could follow. The first step was good, as were the second, third and all the steps after. His footprints made getting to my destination easier. Now this could be a post about following the footprints of God, although that is what we should do, that is not the point of my post. No, my post is about the footprints that we leave for others. The tracks we leave behind for others to follow will it lead them to safety and higher ground? Or will it lead them into deep snow? My brother’s path led me to higher stable ground and allowed me to enjoy the beauty of my surrounds in safety and peace. I pray that my (our) footprints will do the same for others.

“We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonders that He has done” (Psalm 78:4).
So what’s my plan of attack? Leave a trail that takes others to higher ground.
