Exodus 6. “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’ Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor” (Verses 6-9). It’s hard to see God’s hand in a situation when we are only focused on the situation. God sent Moses and Aaron to save the people of Israel. To bring them out of bondage. However, the first initial contact brought deeper slavery instead of freedom, thus the people were discouraged and stopped listening. They made a conscious choice to NOT hear. It is ironic to me that they cried out to God because of their suffering, but refused to listen to what He had to say. But if we’re honest we do the same thing, on a daily bases even. We cry out “God help me!” But don’t listen when He answers. Here’s a thought, if we are going to ask for help, we SHOULD listen to the HELPER.
