Exodus 17. “The Lord answered Moses, ‘Go out in front of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go.  I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.’ So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. And he called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the Lord saying, ‘Is the Lord among us or not?'” (Verses 5-7). Why does God contend with us? How does He not grow weary with our whining and complaining? I am always amazed and blown away by His unfailing grace and patience with us. The real question is then, why do we fight against, such a good God? I think it is because we don’t understand (grace and patience) why we find it so easy to not trust God. The world we live in is quick to judge, quick to lay blame, but is slow to show patience and grace is almost non existent. We need to realize that God is sovereign. His grace, patience, and love are never ending. They have no limits and therefore He is able to at all times to lavish them on us freely. Don’t quarrel against God, trust that He will quench your thirst.
