It is now 10:46 in the morning. One might think it is much too early in the day to sum up the day. One would be wrong 😀 . This morning my mom and I woke up with the intent of cleaning the garage. Something we had been putting off and putting off. Why? Uhmmm, crawling things, that’s why. I am not necessarily scared of creepy things, I just don’t like them. But my mom is terrified. This morning in an attempt to preempt our fears after our separate devotion time with God, we came together for a time of prayer. Yup we prayed about the garage cleaning (how’s that for bringing everything to the Lord). After the prayer we went about preparing what we would need to clean. We walked into the garage, pressed the button to open the door. That familiar noise of the garage door opening began, then STOPPED. Wait, what? I press it again, open, then STOP! The door won’t open! I walk over to check and see if there is anything blocking it. Nope. All clear. I go outside to check and see if maybe there is something outside holding up the door. Nope. All clear. I come inside and report it to my mom. Her answer, “I wonder what it is that would scare us that God is protecting us from?” What a wonderful perspective. That’s the kind of faith I want to have. One that realizes that God answers prayer. One that realizes that God is aware of our fears. Normally when doors don’t open in our lives, instead of accepting, we spend time trying to pry them open. Usually we end up in a worse situation. Today the lesson is this: If the door won’t open realize that it could just be God saying.”It’s not time to walk through this door, yet.” My garage door will have to open. I have things I need to do, they require my car which is in the garage. However, at this moment I am happy to let God do what needs to be done before He opens the door.

“I will place on His shoulder the key to the house of David; what He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open” (Isaiah 22:22).

So what’s the plan? Wait for God to open the door.

About lsgrlr

I wanted to do something new. Not something arbitrary like joining a gym, losing weight, getting married, etc. I wanted to change from the inside-out. So, I decided to find one thing to be thankful for each day. On this journey some days have been really good, while others have been disastrously bad, yet every day has produced at least one reason to be thankful. My perspective is changing and for that I am ... Thankful.
