Deuteronomy 29. “And the answer will be: ‘It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the covenant He made with them when He brought them out of Egypt. They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods He had not given them. Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against this land, so that He brought on it all the curses written in this book. In furious anger and in great wrath the Lord uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now.’ The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law” (Verses 25-29). These verses hit home a little. I am in the midst of moving. I am uprooting from all I know and am comfortable with to start a journey with God. A few days ago during my time with Him, God, gave me instructions on what to do. Two things that He wanted me to cling to. As with all forms of obedience the blessings only come when the instructions are obeyed. This warning to Israel is also a warning to me, to us, to be mindful of the things God has commanded us to do. We need to listen and obey…ALWAYS. Understanding that the slightest compromise can lead to the greatest devastation. Because prior to verse 25, all this destruction and devastation God said He would bring on His people if just ONE person sinned. For the sin of one many are destroyed. So today the warning beware of compromise, the tiniest bit will lead to destruction. Follow the directions of God, with all our heart, soul, and mind: It will lead to blessing.
