1 Samuel 19. “Thus Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father, and said to him, ‘Let not the king sin against his servant, against David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been very good toward you. For he took his life in his hands and killed the Philistine, and the Lord brought about a great deliverance for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?” (Verses 4-5). The question is a valid one: why then will you sin against innocent blood? The thing is I don’t think Saul knew why, not a hundred percent, anyway. He just knew that David stood between him and what he believed was his. However, that was not the truth, because what really stood between Saul and his desire was actually Saul himself. Saul and his disobedience. Saul was rejected, not because David was the better choice (God used a donkey), he was rejected due to his disobedience. But instead of owing up to sin, he decided instead to blame those around him. If it weren’t for David… We do the same. If it wasn’t for ————- (fill in the blank), I’d be able to. But here is the ALWAYS truth the thing that stands between us and our dreams is, US. ALWAYS. Saul’s disobedience separated him from God. David was not responsible for that. In our lives it’s the same. No one can separate us from God, but ourselves. So own up.
