1 Samuel 25. “Then David said to Abigail: ‘Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me! And blessed is your advice and blessed are you, because you have kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand. For indeed, as the Lord God of Israel lives, who has kept me back from hurting you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, surely by morning light no males would have been left to Nabal!’ So David received from her hand what she had brought him, and said to her, ‘Go up in peace to your house. See, I have heeded your voice and respected your person'” (Verses 32-35). Wisdom, Abigail exhibited it in this chapter. The fault was Nabal’s he deserved the retribution that David wanted to bring about. But Abigail stepped in and took the blame. She stood in the gap for her husband and for the men of his household. This is exactly what Christ does for us. God would judge us if not for Christ’s intervention on our behalf. He stands in the gap for us and takes our penalty as His own. Today life may not be going our way. We may feel anxious, nervous, and maybe even scared. But fear not. Christ is standing in the gap for us. He has our back and is on our side.
