2 Samuel 8. “When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer, then Toi sent Joram his son to King David, to greet him and bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him (for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi); and Joram brought with him articles of silver, articles of gold, and articles of bronze. King David also dedicated these to the Lord, along with the silver and gold that he had dedicated from all the nations which he had subdued” (Verses 9-11). If you read the entire chapter you will notice that every time David was victorious he dedicated it to the Lord. He understood that all his victories were due to God and not himself. Here is the difference between Saul and David. David knew who was really the KING. He also understood that in the bad times God was still at work and despite what was happening he needed to still do it God’s way. The Christian walk is a decision that we make to follow Christ, through the good and the bad. Let David’s life be an example of following after God’s own heart.
