Popularity does not mean it’s RIGHT.. it just means it’s popular.

So today I bought a new phone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (it is super duper fancy). I am a techno geek, but this phone has so many features I am beginning to wonder if I will ever access all its capabilities. My personality will feel like I got jipped if I don’t get my money’s worth ;). For me the best part of anything new, is learning how to use it. Once I have mastered it, it loses it’s shininess. At that point I want something new. As I sat playing with my new toy, this thought (which clearly is not mine) occurred to me. What was wrong with the old phone? Answer, nothing. It worked just fine. Then why the new phone? Answer, cause I really wanted it. Yup, that is the only reason, well that and Sprint has the worse service ever.  However, I could have gotten any old phone, instead I went for the most popular. That still small voice that often checks my heart and my motives, reminds me that while it’s not a sin to get the most popular phone, it is a sin to live my life by that philosophy. I am realizing this truth: A  little leaven really does leaven the whole loaf. Small compromises here and there leads to big compromises later on. Be careful we don’t fall into the trap, of believing that if it’s popular it must be right. Today I was reminded that popularity, does not equal the right choice, it just equals the most popular one.

So what am I thankful for today? Lessons from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (see I am already getting my money’s worth 🙂 ).
