I have an allergy. And to the most illogical thing…DUST. Yes you read right. This explains my low immune system and my ability to catch any sickness from anyone no matter how near or far they are from me. Why? Allergies, knock down our body’s defenses, in that our body doesn’t know what to fight so it just stops.  So where as a normal person’s body may give them advance warning that something is amiss, mine (because something is always amiss…dust allergy) does not. Why this conversation? I have been thinking about life and how sometimes we just stop trying. We get allergic. Things get hard, relationships get complicated. What we liked today, we feel differently about tomorrow. Life is so CONFUSING. Sometimes instead of pushing through…we STOP and WAIT. When my immune system does this the end result is that I get sick. When we do that in life the end result is the same…we get sick. There are times you are meant to wait, for instance when the light is red or when the door is locked. But even in these instances the wait requires action. At a red light the car still needs to be in drive, we wait so we can move forward. When the door is closed we wait in the standing position, ready to go in or out once the key is turned. Yes, life is confusing, but be ready to push through, even when you are waiting. On this journey at times we have to wait, and that’s okay (if we wait actively)…BUT it is never okay to just stop.

“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us” (Philippians 3:14, NLT).

So what am I thankful for today? That allergies, don’t stop me from moving forward.
