Luke 18. “To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: ‘Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed’: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’ ‘But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ ‘I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted'” (Verses 9-14). It is easy to dwell in self-righteousness. It is easy to believe that our “Christianity” makes is more holy. But a holy heart is one that understands fully what Christ did on the cross. It is a heart that looks at the “least of these” and realizes that without Christ that would have been us. We are called to be salt and light, not prosecutor and judge.

About lsgrlr

I wanted to do something new. Not something arbitrary like joining a gym, losing weight, getting married, etc. I wanted to change from the inside-out. So, I decided to find one thing to be thankful for each day. On this journey some days have been really good, while others have been disastrously bad, yet every day has produced at least one reason to be thankful. My perspective is changing and for that I am ... Thankful.

  1. If only we would not be quick to prosecute others and exonerate ourselves we would actually have a chance to learn and at the same time positively affect someones life… we not called to judge but to show love and support to another…
