I have been very unproductive today. I woke up feeling sick, lymph nodes are swollen. Throat hurts…thus unproductive me. Here’s the thing though today has been such a blessing. How you ask? I have had to rest, mostly because vertical is not achievable right now. My head hurts when I stand up. All I want to is lay down. So being the obedient person that I am (despite what my mother says), I have listened to my body. In the process I have learned a couple valuable lessons: 1. Rest is important. We spend so much of our time “going” and “doing”. Many times we forget that “stopping”, needs to be part of our daily routine. We are created to rest. Our bodies and mind need time to recoup and recharge. 2. Rest can be a time of learning. I realized how much I have been blessed with. A good family. A good life. Resting has given me time to reflect. On this journey we need to take a moment to appreciate the things we have been working to cultivate. It makes no sense to have a nice house, a nice car…if you have no time to enjoy them. Today God stopped me, so I could see that I was blessed. So I could take a moment to enjoy the blessing.
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him” (Psalm 62:5).
So what am I thankful for today? Swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, vertical positioning, and REST. (I never claimed to be normal 🙂 )

Today I am thankful for the good and the bad I had today! Thank you for the encouragement and putting that into a better perspective. 🙂
Your words have also encouraged me…woke up still feeling crummy. And your words reminded me that even in day two God has a purpose and a plan. Thanks!
