John 16. “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (Verse 33). In this world we will have bad days. In this world people will misunderstand us. In this world we will experience unhappiness, and pain. In this world we will feel under-appreciated, and unloved. BUT take heart for CHRIST has OVERCOME the world. He will give us PEACE.
This is interesting. As a Catholic and as a child I thought I had to suffer to get to Heaven and as an adult I found out that was part of the reason I suffered from depression. Yes. I have had pain and suffering but happiness to.
I don’t see anywhere in the Bible that says we have to suffer to get to heaven. But that doesn’t mean we won’t suffer, there is suffering in life naturally. Bad things happen to bad and good people. I also think we wouldn’t appreciate joy and happiness as much if we didn’t suffer.
He does indeed give peace – even in the midst of life’s storms, eh? I’m honored to know Jesus. 🙂
