Exodus 24. “When Moses went and told the people all the Lord’s words and laws, they responded with one voice, ‘Everything the Lord has said we will do.’ Moses then wrote down everything the Lord had said” (Verses 3-4). For those of us who know how the story goes, we are well aware of the fact that Israel did not keep that promise. But here’s my question, does it make the promise any less true? In my opinion, NO. I think at that moment the people meant it wholeheartedly. But life and doubt got in the way and choked out their faith and trust in God. We do the same thing, we make promises and at the moment of pledging our hearts and our desires are sincere. But we get side-tracked, we doubt, we fear and pretty soon our pledge is forgotten. Why is it so easy? We equate God with man. Man is limited and many times we place our limited views on a limitless God. In that moment when we begin to fear and doubt, if we could remember that God is unfailing and never changing we would be victorious. So today when fear and doubt comes to steal our faith and hope (causing broken promises), remember…God NEVER fails. Let’s grab hold of victory.
