Numbers 22. “Then the angel of the Lord moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left. When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, it lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat it with his staff. Then the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth, and it said to Balaam, ‘What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?’ Balaam answered the donkey, ‘You have made a fool of me! If only I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now.’ The donkey said to Balaam, ‘Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?’ ‘No,’ he said. Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell face down” (Verses 26-31). Am I the only one that thinks it’s funny that Balaam answered the donkey, like it was nothing. 🙂 that’s what happens when you’re frustrated. You know what else happens? You don’t see what God is trying to do. So focused on what he wanted, Balaam, (the prophet of the Lord), could not see what God was doing. Today’s simple reminder, don’t let life get in the way of what God wants to do.

IT is funny that Balaam seems to think it is perfectly natural for his donkey to talk. But it is a good point that he is focused on the wrong things. I wonder how often I’m focused on the wrong things and missing God trying to speak to me?
That’s exactly what I thought about after reading. What do I get so focused on, that I don’t realize I am NOT seeing God? Uhmmm the list is long. Wish I had a talking donkey.
