SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO LOL…
DAY 170 (2014)
My mom’s birthday is on Sunday. As my brother and I decided what to do for her, we came up with a GREAT idea. We’d surprise her with the one thing she wanted most: My brother to come visit. Everyday since he moved to Buffalo at least one time a day she’ll say these words, “I miss Jon.” Yesterday morning I woke up, told my mom I had to help my boss with something, but I’d be back to pick her up and take her out. At which point I headed to airport to get “my boss” (aka. baby brother). I retrieved him from the airport, made a quick Starbucks run (we were both coffee deprived), then headed home. When I got home I left my brother sitting in the car in the driveway. Went inside and asked my mom, to come help me get stuff out of the car. She walked through the garage toward the driveway, she had a quizzical look on her face. Then she noticed him and immediately started screaming for joy. She was so excited (still is), she started laughing, crying, and yelling all at the same time (I did not know that was even possible). Here’s the cool part: she couldn’t stop thanking God. Why is that the cool part? She knew to whom the praise belonged. She did thank my brother and I for the surprise, but her praise was all toward God. She praised Him for providing my brother with the funds to travel. She thanked Him for my willingness to get up at an insane hour in the morning. She thanked Him for another year of life that she will get to begin with both her children around. There was not a thing that she did not praise Him for. I am blessed beyond measure to have this, godly woman, as my example in life. She has taught me that truly “EVERY good and perfect gift is from God.”
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (James 1:17).
So what’s the plan? Know to whom the praise belongs.
DAY 166 (2014)
Okay so today’s post will be a little different. Today was busy, but I manged to get a lot done. I dealt with some very nice people. And some NOT so nice people. During my interactions with the friendly people my thought was, “I am so happy I got to interact with this person today.” But with the NOT so nice people my thought was this:
Some days are like that. Thank God for His infinite wisdom when creating us. He knew the kind trouble we’d get in if people could hear our thoughts at times. Hahaha.
“To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are His” (Job 12:13).
So what’s the plan? Uhmmm… taking thoughts captive 😉
DAY 156 (2014)
This was the day of funny conversations. I have two very amusing friends who say the most random things, but very sincerely. Today I have laughed a lot with my coworkers which is great because my time with them is slowly dwindling away. It is weird that I am beginning to feel the pangs of loss while I am still with them. I think it is because I am very aware that my tenure there is coming to an end. God must have known that if I wasn’t laughing I would be crying, because not only am I saddened at the thought of leaving, but the day was just one crisis after another. At one point I checked the almanac to make sure it wasn’t a full moon (it wasn’t). The laughing started early. My coworker and pharmacy tech extraordinaire Karla came up to me inquiring about whether or not I had, had breakfast:
Karla: Today is national donut day. So I went to Dunkin Donuts.
Me: Oh really?
Karla: I bought a Boston Market, do you want it?
Me: ??? You bought a Boston Market?!
Karla: Yes, would you like it?
Me: ???? A B O S T O N M A R K E T?
Karla: Uh-huh. Would you like it? (she’s looking at me like…why do you keep asking 🙂 )
Me: Wait. Do you mean Boston cream?
Karla: Uhmm, that’s what I said.
A little later as my friends and I are walking to lunch Christina (who is normally involved in my best convo of the day posts… on FB). Made the journey to the cafeteria memorable with this sudden outburst:
Christina: How much peanut butter are you allowed to own? (She asks staring at me).
Me: (blinking) Huh? Uhmm, Stacy I am going let you answer that. Peanut butter is dietary and you’re a dietitian.
Stacy: You mean like, personally, like how much can you have in your house?
Christina: Yes, how much can you own?
Stacy: As much as you want!
Christina: Good ’cause they’re buy one get one free and they only have that sale like once a month.
Yup, laughter has been the theme of the day. It has blessed my soul and reminded that God loves to hear His children laugh. He provides these moments of joy to remind us that the world was intended to be beautiful, intended to be happy, it was sin that broke it down. But nevertheless God is still in the business of bringing us joy.
“Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them'” (Palms 126:2).
So what’s my plan? Laughter.

SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO LOL…
Random (hopefully inspired) Thought
Exodus 14. “ As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, ‘Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!'” (Verses 10-12). Really Israel?! After all you saw God do to get you here, you are still going to doubt? You want to go back? Would we have reacted differently if it was us? Probably not. It’s human nature to go back to what we know (even it is bad for us). The Lord still provided a way of escape. Still took care of them. But imagine how much stronger their faith (our faith) would be if They (we) believed without seeing.
