So I think by now anyone that reads my blog knows I like to watch Korean dramas. I do it for two reasons, one it is a great way to learn the language. Two they are very entertaining. I am currently watching a drama called 미래의 선택 (translation Mirae’s Choice, or The Future’s Choice). The name of the main character is Mirae which means future in Korean. The concept is this, the main character, Mirae, travels back from the future to stop her “present” self from marrying her husband. The show is comical, sweet, and fun to watch, but there is also a lesson. Future Mirae uses many ploys and tricks to change things in her favor, but no matter what she does, what’s meant to happen, happens anyway. Present Mirae still falls for the same man despite having different (and in the eyes of many better) options. The problem however is that she tries to listen to her future self and ends up hurting herself. She has this constant feeling that something is missing. Which of course is it. Why? Because she is not doing what she was meant to do. I know many people in life who feel the same way. They go after what the world says is the better option, and miss out on their created purpose. They have everything, and yet are still searching. I have heard it said that we all have a God shaped hole inside of us. I personally think it’s true. If God really did create us (and I believe He did), then He had a plan, a purpose, and a reason. Just like Mirae, we too will feel like something is missing when we choose something other than the path we were meant to travel. Have everything, but still feel like something’s missing? Maybe you have been listening to the wrong voice. God’s not hiding His plan, we just aren’t looking for it.

”’For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways’, declares the LORD” (Isaiah 55:8).

So what am I thankful for today? I don’t feel like something is missing.
